Lokomotiv-Kuban center Vince Hunter shared details about his conversation with the medical staff late in the fourth quarter of the first semifinal playoff game in the VTB United League against CSKA (97:88 OT), and explained what fueled his team’s burst in the extra period.
— Late in the fourth quarter, you talked to the doctors. What happened?
— Nothing serious, just cramps. Probably didn’t drink enough water during the game. I felt better quickly and told them I was ready to come back and help finish the win.
— What allowed Lokomotiv to make that run at the start of overtime?
— That’s exactly what we planned — to pull away as far as possible early so we could control the game from there. So we focused on cutting down turnovers, playing team offense, and grabbing every rebound, especially on our own glass.
— Could you hear the Krasnodar fan section?
— I’ve been saying since the start of the season that I appreciate everyone who comes to the arena wearing Lokomotiv colors. I’m glad there were so many of them today, — Hunter said in an interview with Championat correspondent Arina Ershova.
