Krasnodar head coach Murad Musaev stated after his team’s loss to Moscow’s Dynamo that they can only hope for a miracle in the Russian Premier League (RPL) title race. On Monday, Krasnodar fell 1-2 away to Dynamo in the 29th round of the RPL. Musaev’s side sits second in the league table with 63 points, trailing leaders Zenit St. Petersburg by two points ahead of the final matchday.
Reflecting on the match, Musaev explained that the first half was strong from his team, but they conceded early in the second half due to a defensive lapse. “We played the moment poorly, lost the player (Juan Caceres) who made the cross, and also lost the battle in our own box,” he said.
When asked about Krasnodar’s remaining mathematical chances for the title, Musaev replied, “We’ll believe in a miracle.” On the second-half performance overall, he added: “Everything worked out — we had chances and applied pressure. Dynamo were just holding onto the scoreline. We spent the whole half attacking, but lost discipline toward the end. Who can I blame? The players gave everything, and we have no rotation. If we’d finished our chances, the mood would be different. But that’s football; it happens. Today wasn’t our day.”
Krasnodar will host Orenburg in the 30th and final round of the RPL season.
